Stuff to do... Some completed projects:
2010 Challenge #2
Rebuild studio in our new California location.
Update this ancient website.
Phantahex - hmm what to do with this? We built several giant electromechanical instruments, but the project remains in limbo.
Finish uploading Lowbelly albums to bandcamp.
2011 Challenge #1
During my moving transition, I'm holed up in a hotel room with just a laptop, a drum machine and 2 synths.
What to do? I solicited cover requests from friends on facebook and they offered these gems:
Bad Bad Leroy Brown (Jim Croce)
Born Under Punches (Talking Heads)
Fox On The Run (Sweet)
Lucky Star (Madonna)
The Devil Went Down To Georgia (Charlie Daniels Band)
The Prophet's Song (Queen)
The Tide Is High (Blondie)
2010 Challenge #3
Using minimal gear, record a bunch of stuff over the holidays at mom's house. Results will be posted after I finish mixes.
Re-record Born to Run, originally by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. This was done once
by our friends The Feelings. But
this challenge comes with a hitch - each participant must play all parts. Results:
Born to Run (Jeremy Jensen)
Born to Run (Grant Olsen)
Born to Run (Josh Galloway)
Born to Run (Tristan Andreas)
Wendy Baby (Tristan Andreas)
Moogerfooger test:
Make Time To Take Knives (Grant Olsen)
2010 Challenge #1
This is really easy, more a catalyst for action than a recipe for
masterpieces. One person records all parts in this order: drum machine,
bass, guitar, keys, vocals. Processing is allowed. Each part must be
made up as you go along. This shouldn't take more than 8-12 tracks. Then
edit and mix it quickly and post it here. Oh, and each song must be ~ 2
minutes long. Results:
Sup's (Brian Mayer)
Nieuwjaar 2010 (Crazy Dude Mix) (Tristan Andreas)
This House Is A Mess (Noel Weber)
Wicked Horse Rider (Grant Olsen)
Fauxbois album
After years of kicking this project around, Brian Mayer enlisted my help
to finish it up. We completed mixes in December 2009 and mastering was
done at Spleenless in Berlin. CD released by spark and shine.
